What is Copyright?
Copyright is a form of protection provided by the
laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code)
to the authors of original works of authorship,
including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic,
and certain other intellectual works.
This protection is available to both published and
unpublished works. Copyright protection subsists
from the time the work is created in fixed form.
The copyright in the work of authorship immediately
becomes the property of the author who created the
work.
Only the author or those deriving their rights through
the author can rightfully claim copyright. Ideas
are NOT copyrightable.
Titles, names, short phrases, and slogans; familiar
symbols or designs; mere variations of typographic
ornamentation, lettering, or coloring; mere listings
of ingredients or contents are not protected by
copyright.
Procedures, methods, discoveries, devices, systems
and such are covered by trademark and patent laws.
To be protected by copyright, works must be fixed
in a tangible form of expression.

Thank
You
Kat Caverly, the Photocartoonist, wants to thank
all of the people without whom none of this would
have been possible:
The tireless support of and collaboration with Thomas
Hudson Reeve who is one of the funniest people I
know. I love you Tom!
Special thanks to Sai Ming Yiu and Chao Lei who
were my assistants when I dreamt up The Photocartoonist
website. They patiently taught me how to use Flash
and After Effects and shared with me the humor that
is needed to make these websites flourish.
Since 2003 the team includes the brilliance of Chris Leap, Nayan Soni,
Terry Walsh, Ron Daley, Jeff Feldstein, Michael Brown and Benjamin Quinto.
And with their tireless efforts and dedication to excellence I am learning what
it takes to make movies.
I am grateful to all of the people that I meet every
day on the streets of New York City. They inspire
me and let me photograph them! People are at their
best when they are laughing and I make people laugh,
at me and at themselves. Thanks youse guys!
